Get your cameras ready for this exciting and memorable event as your child becomes a Winner!  Our 2011 Spring Karate Tournament is now accepting registrations for all children ages 4 and up from White belts to Black belts! Even if this is your child's first tournament, he/she will feel comfortable because of our positive environment and caring coaches, plus he/she will be participating in events that are taught in class! It's going to be AWESOME! The touirnament is going to be on April 2nd starting at 3pm located at the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church Gym at 6100 Memorial Hwy Tampa, FL 33615.

Your child is going to have a great experience!  Doors open at 3:00pm and the tournament begins at 3:30pm with some divisions lasting until 7pm! Bring your whole family to cheer on your child! We have plenty of seating! Most of our competitor's karate tournaments are over $100 to participate in, but our tournament fees are only $45 per student and spectator tickets are only $5 per person. Children spectators ages 5 and under are FREE!  GREAT!

All children who participate are guaranteed a special trophy for their hard work!  Also, all students ages 6 and up will have the opportunity to earn multiple trophies and awards for placing 1st thru 3rd in their divisions! All divisions will be separated by age and rank to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience! We had many children win multiple awards and trophies at our last event! Listed below are the descriptions of our exciting divisions:

(Ages 4-5)

Grappling – Each student receives two turns to grapple with fellow competitors for an action packed 1 minute round!

Free Sparring – Each student will be performing his/her favorite striking moves in front of the judges for an exciting 1 minute round!

Board Breaking – Each student gets the opportunity to choose his/her favorite move to use while breaking a karate board in front of the judges!

(Ages 6-8)

Grappling – Each student participates in an exciting single elimination grappling tournament with fellow children that have similar experience levels. Point will be awarded for: Takedowns, submission attempts, ground position holds for 3 seconds, and reversals. Students that tap out their partner will automatically move on to the next level.

Free Sparring – This event is for children who do not have sparring gear. Students will showcase their favorite moves in front of the judges for a score based on creativity, balance, energy, and level of difficulty. Students will face off against a fellow student in a no contact 1 minute round.

Board Breaking – Students will have a total of 3 tries to break a board in front of the judges. This exciting event is great for pictures and video recording! Students will be graded on difficulty, balance, coordination!

(Ages 9 and up)

Grappling – Each student participates in an exciting single elimination grappling tournament with fellow children that have similar experience levels. Free Sparring – Beginner level students that do not own gear will participate in this event. See the above description.

Light Contact Sparring – This event is for children who have purchased EYS sparring gear from our website. Students will compete in a single elimination competition that awards points for punches, kicks, knee, and elbow strikes. *Only EYS gear is allowed, no exceptions. Please understand that our judges will configure all matches by physical size for safety reasons.

Board Breaking – Students will have a total of 3 tries to break a board in front of the judges. This exciting event is great for pictures and video recording! Students will be graded on difficulty, balance, and coordination!

This entire event is going to be very exciting and filled with awesome memories! Parents report that this is the most enjoyable experience for them and their child with the exception of black belt testing!

We will also host a tournament strategy class for $10 that will teach your child the rules of our competition and make him/her more comfortable at the event! We will also teach strategy on how to win in his/her events so this investment will give your child the winning edge! This class is limited to the first 30 kids ages 4 and up. First come first served until all spots are sold out!
